When selecting a toilet, it’s important to keep a number of things in mind, from size to height, function and more. A full range of models are available today, including ones built for eco-friendliness, stylishness, ease of use and saving space. Read on to find out which one is right for you.

Back-to-Wall

A toilet where the base fits against the wall and the cistern is hidden, often by a false wall or cabinet. Ideal for maximising space, the cistern is accessed via a face plate or access panel.

Features and Benefits

  • Surrounding space appears larger
  • Stylish
  • No support frame needed

Close Coupled

A toilet where the cistern is sitting directly atop the toilet pan, forming a compact unit situated low on the wall. These toilets often appear to be a single unit, though they are two separate pieces. They are one of the most popular models in the U.K.

Features and Benefits

  • Great selection of shapes and styles
  • Quick to install
  • Economical

Comfort Height

Taller than the average model, a comfort height toilet makes getting up and down more comfortable for the user, and is particularly useful for the elderly and ill.

Features and Benefits

  • 4 - 5cm extra height
  • Easily accessible
  • Less pressure on joints in the lower body

Corner

A corner toilet features a uniquely shaped cistern that allows it to fit into the corner of the bathroom.

Features and Benefits

  • Stylish
  • Ideal for small bathrooms

Dual Flush

A dual flush toilet is a high efficiency model (HET) that offers two different toilet flush volumes (low and full, for liquids and solids) to conserve water. A full versus a reduced flush uses typically 6 and 3 litres of water.

Features and Benefits

  • Two buttons or handles
  • Eco-friendly
  • Lowers water bill

High Level

The cistern of a high level toilet is fitted high on a reinforced or solid wall and connected to the base via a long flush pipe. It is operated by a chain pull.

Features and Benefits

  • Traditional look and feel

Low Level

The cistern of a low level toilet is affixed to a solid or reinforced wall at a low level, connected to the base via a chrome flush pipe. It is operated by a lever.

Features and Benefits

  • Traditional look and feel

Reduced Projection

A model with a shorter depth than average, which means it does not protrude as far.

Features and Benefits

  • Saves space

Wall-Mounted

Also called wall-hung, the cistern of a wall-mounted toilet is hidden inside a piece of furniture or a wall, with access via a flush plate. These models are supported by a strong wall frame and they can be fitted to most, if not all, walls - even a stud wall.

Features and Benefits

  • Saves space
  • Can typically support approximately 200kg
  • Modern and stylish
